Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov again tried to dispel what a Russian news agency called “myths” about Vladimir Putin’s “doppelgangers”.

“We have one Putin,” Peskov said at the national exhibition. “Now the “experts” are making assumptions – there are three or four of them, which we now see every day – this morning they laid flowers at the monument to Minin and Poyarsky – this is the third or fourth “double”, it is not clear,” writes the Russian state agency TASS.

According to The Guardian, last month Dmitry Peskov, in response to the claim that Putin was ill, said: “This falls into the category of absurd information hoaxes, which a whole range of media outlets discuss with an enviable persistence. It only makes me smile.”

Also in April, Peskov stated: “Actually, he (Putin, no) has always been and is mega-active. Those of us who work with him can barely keep up with him. His energy is enviable, and we can only wish to be as healthy as him.”

In 2020, Vladimir Putin stated that he had rejected a proposal to use backups for personal protection during the conflict in Chechnya. “I gave up on doubles. It was the most difficult period of the fight against terrorism,” he said. [News.ro]
