The Hamas-controlled Palestinian Ministry of Health said an Israeli bombardment of the entrance to Gaza’s main hospital left “dozens killed and wounded” on Friday, AFP reported.
According to the quoted source, the target of the bombing was “a convoy of ambulances preparing to transport the wounded from Al-Shifa Hospital” to the border with Egypt. “This massacre resulted in dozens of dead and injured,” said a Palestinian official.
In the AFPTV video, several bodies and injured people can be seen near the damaged ambulance.
The pictures also show civilians carrying the wounded with bloodied bodies. Other people are lying on the ground, probably blown into cars parked on the side of the road.
The Israeli army has not yet reacted.
Currently, according to the Hamas Health Ministry, 16 of the 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are out of service because they have been bombed or because they have run out of fuel for their generators.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said that “there are situations where they (Palestinians) use a civilian vehicle to transport terrorists.”
“We don’t shoot at ambulances and hospitals if we understand that they are only civilians and doing what they are supposed to do,” he added.
On October 27, the Israeli army accused the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas of “waging war from the hospitals” in Gaza, which Hamas denies.
