
Poet, novelist and essayist Georgeta Marinescu died at the age of 82. She debuted in Tribuna magazine in 1965 with poems and received numerous awards throughout her career, writes Radio Romania Cultural.
Angela Marinescu (pseudonym Basarabai-Angela Markovici) was born on July 8, 1941 in Arad.
He attended the high school “Moise Nicoară” in Arad (1955-1962), then, between 1963-1968, he studied at the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, he is mentioned in the “General Dictionary of Romanian Literature” published under the auspices of the Romanian Academy (Encyclopedic Univers publishing house, Bucharest, 2005).
He interrupted his studies in medicine, continuing to attend courses at the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Psychology, University of Bucharest (1968-1972).
She worked as a psychologist at the CFR hospital in Bucharest (1973) and as a nurse at an oncology hospital (1979-1981). In 1990-1996, he was a correspondent editor of Vatra magazine, the cited source reports.
He made his debut with poems in the Tribuna magazine from Cluj in 1965, and in the editorial office in 1969 with the volume “Blue Blood”. He received numerous awards for his work, including the Nikita Stanescu Award (1990), the Romanian Writers’ Union Award (1996 and 2000), the Mihai Eminescu National Poetry Award – Opera Omnia (2004).
Angela Marinescu was specially invited to the event of the 8th Bucharest International Poetry Festival (May 15-21, 2017) and was among the poets who took part in the third edition of the European Poetry Biennale organized by the Faculty of Literature. On April 9-12, 2018, the 18th UNESCO Poetry Days took place in Warsaw, during which the anthology of contemporary Romanian and Polish poetry “Poduri/Mosty” was presented, which included poems signed by ten poets from Romania. and ten from Poland, Angela Marinescu was on the list of Romanian poets, as stated in the ICR Warsaw press release of April 5, 2018.
During the 27th edition of the EUROPALIA festival (October 2019 – February 2020), which was dedicated to Romania, Angela Marinescu took part in Brussels, together with several other most representative contemporary poets, in a debate entitled “From the power of poetics. Quatre cinq poetes roumaines”.
