Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a path must be paved between Israel and Hamas for permanent peace in Gaza, saying it was necessary to “establish a new security mechanism in cooperation with regional actors,” Turkish state media Anatolia reported.

“We have said that security cannot be achieved by shooting and dropping more bombs on Gaza; shedding more blood, killing more children and destroying more hospitals, schools, mosques, churches and markets,” Erdogan said, Anadolu reported. “We believe that Israel, which seems to have completely lost its temper and is acting as an organization, must be stopped as soon as possible”.

He stated that if such a security mechanism is established, “Turkey is ready to take responsibility,” Anadolu reported.

The country’s main priority, he added, is “preventing the massacre that continues for the 25th day.”

“Our goal is to get our region out of this vortex it’s been dragged into,” he said.

“The Israeli administration, supported by the unconditional support of Europe and America, has been committing crimes against humanity in front of the whole world for exactly 25 days,” Erdogan said.
