“Based on accurate information from the IDF and the ISA, IDF warplanes struck the deputy head of Hamas intelligence, Shadi Barud,” the Israeli military announced.

The IDF also released images of the strikes that allegedly killed Barud, showing two buildings in Gaza being bombed that appear to be collapsing.

Who was Shadi Barud

Israel claims that Shadi Barud and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar were the masterminds of the October 7 attacks that killed more than 1,400 people and took more than 200 hostages.

“Barud was formerly the commander of a Hamas battalion in Khan Younis (a city in the southern Gaza Strip) and was responsible for planning numerous terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians,” the Israeli military told CNN.

According to the cited source, Barud held several positions in Hamas’ military intelligence and was responsible for the group’s intelligence relations.

Yahya Sinwar led the al-Qassam Brigades, the militant wing of Hamas, and is now the head of Hamas in Gaza. He focused his efforts on building relations with foreign countries, especially with Egypt and Iran.
