Renault is investing 3 billion euros in the launch of eight new models outside Europe, including five cars in the C and D segments, to position the brand in the most profitable segments by 2027. Renault also unveiled a concept called Niagara, a pickup truck equipped with the new E Tech 4WD hybrid technology.

Briefly about the plan

The Renault brand aims to double its revenue per unit sold outside Europe by 2027 compared to 2019. By 2027, the French brand wants more than 33% of the cars it sells outside of Europe to be electric or hybrid.

Renault is the best-selling French car brand in the world; sales outside Europe are expected to reach 643,124 units in 2022 (43% of total shipments). Last year, five of the top ten markets were outside Europe: Brazil (#2), Turkey (#4), India (#5), South Korea (#8) and Colombia (#9).

This product offensive will be carried out using two platforms:

1. A modular platform belonging to the Renault Group, ultra-flexible and multi-energy, which will be assigned to four regions: Latin America, North Africa, Turkey and India;

2. The Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, designed for the D and E segments, is located in South Korea in partnership with the Chinese from Geely.

The Kardian is the first of eight production models to be introduced, and the model is due to enter the Latin American and Moroccan markets next year.

The development plan outside of Europe is called “International Game Plan 2027” and is part of Renaulution’s strategic plan.

Reno Niagara

The company presented the Renault Niagara concept, which foreshadows the next international models that Renault will release until 2027.

About the Niagara concept, Renault says that it is “tough and powerful, sophisticated and full of technology.”

It is described as having “generous curved lines and polished details”

“The front end, vertical and impressive, gives a strong impression of strength, reinforced by the strong appearance of the sides of the body. At the rear, the sloping roofline and strongly inclined C-pillar create an impression of dynamism and sportiness,” say Renault representatives.

The Niagara concept is built on a new ultra-flexible platform belonging to the Renault Group and provides incredible driving comfort. The power unit is efficient thanks to the E-Tech Hybrid 4WD technology and a dual technical configuration: an advanced mild hybrid engine (48 V) at the front and an additional electric motor at the rear. Thus, the Niagara Concept is an optimized all-wheel drive model with off-road characteristics. It can handle half of daily trips in fully electric mode, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions,” the company says.
