
On Monday, the Senate adopted a bill on meat and meat products, which prohibits the sale of synthetic meat obtained in a laboratory from animal cells on the domestic market.
The legislative proposal, initiated by a group of PSD parliamentarians, aims to regulate the creation of a legislative framework for the naming of products, presentation, labeling and marketing of meat products, “monitoring the health of the population, compliance with hygiene conditions and correct information to consumers,” the report says profile commission.
“The phrase “Romanian product” means meat and meat products obtained from 100% carcasses from farms in Romania. It is forbidden to write the phrase “Romanian product” and colors on the shelf and on the label of meat and meat products. of the national flag, if the provisions of paragraph (1) are not observed,” the draft reads.
The normative act also stipulates that the label will have a QR code and the purchase price in the case of products from both the domestic market and the foreign market, as also stated in the project initiated by the parliamentarians of the OSD.
According to the draft, “the commercialization of synthetic meat obtained in the laboratory from animal cells is prohibited on the domestic market. The provisions of paragraph (l) also apply to culinary products for public consumption, in the preparation of which synthetic meat was used.”
Commercialization of synthetic meat is punishable by a fine of 200,000 to 300,000 lei.
The legislative proposal will be discussed by the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in this case. (Agerpress)
