Palestinian Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin “want to completely destroy the neighboring democracy,” Joe Biden said Thursday from the White House, AFP and Reuters reported.

“Hamas and Putin pose different threats, but they have one thing in common,” the US president said in a solemn address to the nation.

Biden says the US will be safer “for generations” if it helps Ukraine and Israel.

“Making sure that Israel and Ukraine succeed is vital to America’s national security,” Biden explained. Abandoning Ukraine or Israel increases the risk of global chaos, he noted.

“In Israel, we have to make sure they have what they need to protect their people today and always,” Biden said.

The funds will be used to make the Middle East “more stable, connected to its neighbors, with more predictable markets, more jobs, less discontent, less wars,” Biden said.

The president began by telling the Americans about what happened in Israel.

“We are using every opportunity to bring the hostages home,” he promised, saying there was no higher priority.

“The United States remains committed to the Palestinian right to dignity and self-determination,” Biden announced, condemning the actions of Hamas. Hamas wants to “destroy the democracy next door,” says Biden. According to him, the militant group uses civilians as human shields.
