Joe Biden’s team has released the first message on Truth Social, the social network of his rival Donald Trump, who is also running for president in the US, reports AFP.

The @BidenHQ account chose as its illustration a “meme,” an image that went viral online depicting the US president as a cartoon superhero with red laser eyes. This avatar is known to his followers as “Dark Brandon”.

“Right. Let’s see how it goes. Converts welcome!” the campaign team of the 80-year-old Democrat wrote on the platform of the former president, who is currently the favorite in the 2024 Republican primary.

The following reports echo criticism of Donald Trump by two other Republican candidates in the primary: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former UN ambassador Nikki Haley.

“We joined Truth Social mostly because we thought it would be a lot of fun,” explains Joe Biden’s campaign team, this time from his X Network (formerly Twitter) account.

Launched in early 2021, Truth Social was touted by Donald Trump as an alternative to Twitter, which he heavily used and was banned after the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol.

The former president has since reinstated his accounts on Twitter, now X and bought by Elon Musk, and on Facebook, where he was also banned.
