On Monday evening, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke to Ukrainians about preparing to fight against Russian strikes that will hit critical infrastructure as the cold weather approaches. He said that measures will be implemented that were not used before. “At the same time, it is important that everyone at the level of local authorities and enterprises does their work as on the battlefield to protect Ukraine from Russian terror,” he noted.

In his nightly video speech, Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported that Russian attacks had already taken place in Kherson and Donetsk, which affected the supply of electricity and water, News.ro reports.

“During the day in Kherson Oblast and Donetsk Oblast, energy workers and rescue workers worked very actively to eliminate the consequences of attacks on electrical installations. In particular, today there were power outages in Kherson due to Russian bombs. Our repair crews are doing their best to restore electricity and water supply to almost the entire city, except for ten houses in the Tavri district. As for these houses, the repairs are expected to be completed tomorrow,” he said.

“We have to understand that with the approach of winter there will be more such Russian strikes – on generating capacities and the power grid. We have to be ready for that,” Zelenskyi said.

He noted that air defense will be strengthened as much as possible in the current conditions. “Even more than realistic: we are agreeing with our partners on defense measures that have not been used before,” Zelenskyy said, without elaborating.

However, he pointed out, a lot will depend on the preparation of local authorities, especially in cities, as well as on the preparatory activities of energy companies and communication operators.

“Everyone should do their part to protect Ukraine from Russian terror this winter. As on the battlefield, we must be as resilient and strong as possible in all areas,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

He informed that the program of the beginning week includes new meetings, new discussions with partners regarding the strengthening of Ukraine and Ukrainian defense. “We will also work to intensify reconstruction in Ukraine. We are also preparing new measures so that, in the current security situation in the world, attention to Ukraine remains at a sufficient level,” Zelenskyy said, referring to the crisis in the Middle East.
