HotNews.ro talked to six urban travelers known in the online world to find out what recommendations they have for a new vacation for the fall of 2023..
2023 has been a good year for Romanians on holiday, with data from kiwi.com showing that this summer bookings have increased by more than 39% compared to last year. Countries such as Italy, Spain, France or the United Kingdom are among the top destinations, and they continue to plan their flights in the autumn months.
Interestingly, 34% of them choose to take a vacation of four to six days, while 30% prefer to stay away for one to two weeks. For the following period, we spoke to six urban travelers, people with a passion for visiting the wide world, who we asked to give us some unique travel options.
Cyprus, Tenerife or Oradea
Andra (27 years old) and Andrii (30 years old) run the joint Instagram page Aer de Vacanța and have been traveling together for eight years and say that autumn is always good for a vacation because it is not too hot and less crowded.
In addition, travelers note that tickets and accommodation are now more affordable. Among the recommendations, young people name Sicily, Cyprus, as well as Tenerife.
“Sicily it’s an island we really like, there are many nice sights to visit, the food is delicious, the prices are the same as in Romania (even lower) and the weather is perfect.
IN CYPRUS I have been many times, and in autumn the beach weather is good, the average temperature is 22 degrees. This is a country with 300 sunny days! Tenerife it’s not too far from Romania, so we’ll go this winter. Here, the average temperature is around 20 degrees all year round (it reaches 30 degrees in summer),” they explain.
And Romania always remains the best option, especially for urban recreation:
“Iasi, the historic capital of Romania, Oradea, the Art Nouveau capital of Romania, Carey, the castle town or the Country of Monasteries in Bucovina, which won the Grand Prix “Destination of the Year 2023″ in Romania, are just a few places. what you should research,” Andra and Andrii conclude.
Majorca, Jordan or Chokenest
Aura Teslaru (30 years old), who has an Instagram page Aura.travel, has been traveling the world since she was 21, and six years ago she launched her blog dailytravelpill.com. Here’s what he recommends:
- Majorca, for those who still want a little warmth. “Besides the beautiful beaches that can be compared to those of Thailand or the Philippines, the island has a fascinating history that can be learned in its capital, Palma. If you go for a walk in the city, you will see buildings designed by Gaudí, majestic cathedrals and streets as if from history. To enjoy all that Mallorca has to offer, I recommend at least a week’s holiday on the island, which is also called the Pearl of the Mediterranean.”
- Jordan, a country that will surprise every sense, from delicious food to architectural treasures like Petra, one of the places that Aura says every traveler should visit at least once in their lifetime. “No vacation in Jordan is complete without a visit to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth (430 meters below sea level), but Wadi Rum is also not to be missed. Here you can rent a jeep for a few hours and get an unforgettable experience – you can admire one of the most beautiful deserts in the world, where films such as “The Martian” or “Prometheus” were filmed. If you come to Jordan, don’t forget to stop at Habibah Sweets in Amman to try some delicious kunafa. I guarantee it will be the best dessert you’ve ever tasted!”
- Aura also has a local recommendation, less known in the mainstream, You will wait, Romania. “This commune in Suceava is unique because of the hundreds of houses decorated like Easter eggs. Each traditional motif has a certain meaning, similar to the patterns on dyed eggs. A few kilometers from the village, you will also find the Egg Museum in Vama, which houses thousands of sealed eggs from all over the world,” she concludes.
European tours, Greece and also Dubai

Oleksandra (28 years old) started traveling in 2017, and in the meantime, more than 14 thousand people subscribed to her Instagram page. She recommends an exotic vacation in Bali, one of her favorite islands, where you won’t miss anything from beautiful waterfalls and turquoise beaches to jungles and amazing scenery.
At the same time, he also recommends holidays in the cities of Europe and talks about one of his most beautiful vacations on the continent, when he took a tour starting from Vienna and then to Nice.
“Then I connected Monaco to Cannes very nicely, and then the last stop was Rome, and then I think I went around all those cities for only 800 lei, because I flew on a budget airline and combined the tickets so that I get out the cheapest. And I promise that these three cities are worth it,” she says. Greece is not off Alexandra’s bucket list, especially when she says it’s the perfect place for fall and spring when the crowds are low and prices drop.
“For example, Santorini. I was here in September a few years ago during the pandemic and I was very lucky to find the island quite free, as you are likely to find it in October, and it will of course be much cheaper, and I have to say, ugly, absolutely wonderful, and it should be visited at least once in a lifetime.”
The trip also includes Dubai. “I’m in Dubai now, it’s my second time, and I say I’m fascinated by this city. Our good weather starts somewhere in the middle of September and lasts until the end of spring, so you always have time to try it,” she adds.
In Romania, she encourages people to take advantage of the colors of the season and visit the Bran, Moeca area.
“I often visited the Transylvanian Amphitheater Moieciu de sus, one of my favorite places. And, for example, you can also visit Poiana Merului, as well as Brasov.”
Koh Samui, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates
Camelia Dragnea, a travel consultant, also recommends Cyprus, “the perfect place for those who still want summer and want to sunbathe until the end of October. It is one of the few destinations in Europe where this is possible, and with a bit of luck, even on holiday you can spend a few hours on the beach for lunch. In Cyprus you will find a mixture of culture and history, an island with landscapes that will leave you speechless, where it is no wonder that so many empires have fought for it over time.’
For those looking for exotic destinations, Camelia says of Koh Samui, Thailand: “This island is less crowded and commercial than Phuket, but perfect if you want a winter destination that feels like paradise. Beaches with white sand, turquoise water, lush vegetation, cuisine filled with delicious, spicy or full of flavors, and prices in five-star hotels, much more affordable than in Europe.”
Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, is less well-known than Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but it can be the perfect destination for the cold season, when temperatures hover around 25 degrees. “You will find many hotels located on the seafront, with a private beach, as well as all-inclusive. You will also be amazed by the mountainous terrain, where at 1680 meters you will find the longest zipline in the world, Jebel Jais Flight, as well as Jais Swing, a swing over the abyss.
Andalusia, Iceland, as well as Apulia

Andra Frunze (33), who has an Instagram page traveler.footsteps, has been traveling since she was 18, and the first destination she recommends is the Andalusia region of Spain. She spent the summer exploring the entire area, which she says is one of the most diverse in Europe.
“Arabic influence, beautiful beaches with palm trees, villages with white houses and warm, open people who enjoy life and the small pleasures. It’s also the perfect season to visit because it can reach 50 degrees in the summer,” she says. Călatorea recommends listing big and famous cities with everything they have to offer, from culture, culinary masterpieces or flamenco to small + sat
“The latter are authentic, well-kept and well-kept, with narrow streets, cubic stone, shops with special local products, delicious sangria and tapas, rolling hills and unforgettable views. Add to the list – Frigiliana, Nerja, Casares, Ronda, Setenil de las Bodegas, a unique place in the world built into the rock, Mijas, where the main attraction is the many donkeys.”
As for the beaches in the region, Andra talks about Marbella, the most popular with many bars and restaurants, as well as Puerto Banús, luxury and luxury, Estepona, full of flowers, Bologna beach with impressive sand dunes, and Tarifa beach, for kitesurfers and windsurfing
“In September-November, the air temperature averages from 22 to 27 degrees during the day, and the water temperature is from 19 to 22 degrees almost all year round. Don’t miss the Colomares castle, as if torn from the depths of the ocean, and the Caminito del Rey, where one of the most amazing routes in the world runs along the rock.”
The region of Apulia, the “heel of the boot”, is another destination that Andra recommends and considers an open-air museum where you will find one of the world’s most famous cuisines. It offers you to visit the cities of Monopoli, Bari, Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, Ostuni, Lecce and Matera (although it is not actually part of Puglia), a city in a rock, considered one of the oldest in the world, where you can feel in stone age
“This region has everything to offer, from castles, cathedrals, domes, caves, aqueducts and archaeological sites to beautiful beaches, narrow old streets and welcoming people.” Andra also recommends Iceland, which is number one for her preferences. A young woman describes a country with fantastic landscapes, where you will get unique experiences:
“For example, the Silfra rift is the only place in the world where you can touch two tectonic plates at the same time. Diving between two continents, in some of the clearest waters on this planet, is a feeling that is difficult to describe in words.
In addition, Iceland boasts black sand beaches, basalt pillars, over 130 volcanoes, many of which are still active, over 400 geothermal lagoons, ice caves, the aurora borealis, around 10,000 spectacular waterfalls, glaciers, resorts, national parks, lakes, geysers , unique areas, some have only four houses. Did you know that this is also the only country in the world where there are no mosquitoes?”
Lepşa, Arieseni and Cazanele Danube
Cristina and Alex have a Travel Therapy Instagram page, they decided to recommend some special places in Romania where you can fully enjoy the colors of the season: Lepsha, Vranca, for a 7.5 km hike and route in the Tisicei Ariesi Gorge, a village in Apuseni, where in autumn the mountains of Cazanele Dunării are perfectly visible, a memorable area worth a boat ride.
