​Hubert Gurkach won the Shanghai Masters (ATP 1000), the Pole played impressively in the tie-break in the decisive set against Andrii Rublev (6-3, 3-6, 7-6(8)).

Hubert and Andriy split their first two sets of the final in Shanghai “mirror” (6-3 in the first for the Pole, the same score, but for the Russian in the second).

The deciding match was spectacular and with a lot of drama: Gurkach had a match point at 5-4 (on Rublev’s serve), but the third set was decided on a tie-break.

Andriy started better, and at one point the scoreboard showed 5-2 in his favor. The Russian seemed to run away with a winner, he even had a match point at 6-5, but the end of the game was incredible.

Hubert turned the score in his favor, he missed two match points before making the third in the tiebreak and the fourth of the match: 10-8.

The spectacular final in Shanghai lasted two hours and 7 minutes.

For the Pole, it was the third Masters (ATP 1000) final in his career: 2021 in Miami (win) and 2022 in Montreal (loss).

The Rolex Shanghai Masters was held from October 4 to 15 on hard, was part of the ATP Masters 1000 category and had a total prize pool of 8,800,000. The title champion was Daniil Medvedev (2019). Recent releases have not taken place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
