The President of Romania will confirm the interest and openness of the Romanian side for constructive, pragmatic and transparent cooperation with Hungary, a neighboring EU member state and a NATO ally, with the aim of developing projects of common interest and obtaining concrete results based on and in the spirit of the principles and values ​​laid down in the fundamental documents defining the parameters of bilateral relations.

The two presidents will analyze the current situation at the regional, European and global levels through the lens of the illegal and unprovoked war launched by Russia against Ukraine, with an emphasis on security, energy, food and supply chain implications. In this context, measures to support the most affected partners in the region, especially the Republic of Moldova, will be considered.

As for the European agenda, the presidents of Romania and Hungary will discuss the priorities of the presidency of the Council of the European Union, which Hungary will fulfill in the second half of 2024.”
