“You should know that things are moving fast compared to everything else that has happened in the history of Romania regarding these regional hospitals that were announced back in 2007 by Minister Nicolaescu. At that time, the Ministry of Health had a model that existed for several years, but absolutely nothing was done and the construction of these hospitals was periodically announced.

We found them in a situation where they were only TEOs. At the moment, the technical project is finished, so what the hospital should be in terms of construction, communications, interior design, places where the equipment will be installed, everything is complete,” said Health Minister Alexandru Rafila, Monday evening, on Medika TV.

He explained that the first completed technical project is the Yass Regional Hospital, the actual construction of which will begin by the end of this year.

“I don’t want to show that we are doing them, but definitely, if construction starts, they will become a reality,” the minister said.

When asked how Romania would act in the event of a disaster with several victims, he said that there is a so-called “critical infrastructure” that combines hospitals for adults and children that can be used in such situations. Rafila assured that there is a plan that can be activated in case of emergencies. (photo: Viktor Levy | Dreamstime.com)
