​Eugene Nyagoe started the season on the bench at Universitat Craiova, but the manager was sacked after the first two stages of the Super League and has now signed for Ligue 2 side FC Arges.

Eugene Neagoe, the new coach of FC Argesh

Neagoe will take the place of Eugen Beza, who was on a temporary basis after the dismissal of Alexandru Pelici.

The 56-year-old coach has signed a contract until 2025, which will be extended by two more seasons if the team is promoted to the Super League.

“It was not an easy decision for me to make because I coached for many years in the first division… it does not mean that the second division is a disgrace or that you are not a valuable coach if you coach here.

I didn’t think so at all, we are talking about Argesh, a big club that gave our country huge players, starting with the greatest Giku Dobrin.

We discussed the project. I was very honest and open, I talked a lot with Mr. Tudose, with the mayor, I explained to them how I see things. The contract is divided into two periods, it is mandatory for promotion to Ligue 1 and the contract is automatically extended until 2027.

I hope we can do it this year, but it’s a pretty tough time right now. The team is in 12th place, it is quite a significant difference in points, but it does not mean that the goal is unattainable” – Evgeny Neagoye.

  • Eugen Nyagoe worked for six months at the University of Craiova, and the team from Aalto finished the 2022-2023 season in 4th place (without qualifying for the European Cups).
  • Argesh FC has collected 11 points in the first nine stages and is in 12th place in League 2.
