Health Minister Alexandru Rafila announced Sunday evening that lists would be open for those who would like to travel to Israel as part of medical teams to help the country’s health care system. The minister also clarified that blood and blood products can be sent in a relatively short time if Israel asks for help, which has not yet happened.
“That support could be volunteer medical teams – and you know very well that we did the same with the disaster that happened in Turkey when there was a very strong earthquake – and blood or blood products. Tomorrow we will open a list for volunteers who may want to go to Israel as part of medical teams,” Minister Alexandru Rafila said on B1 TV, News.ro reported.
He explained that he had spoken to Israeli officials – the Romanian ambassador and the minister of health – and so far they had not asked for help.
“I also spoke with some directors of hospitals in Beersheba (…), a settlement located in the immediate vicinity of the Palestinian territories, and there in this hospital, by the way, a very large one, which I once visited, at least 700 victims – adults, as well as children. They had a certain need for blood and its products. Tomorrow morning we will review the situation and, if there are requests from the Israeli side, we will certainly provide this assistance in a very short time,” added Alexandru Rafila.
