Investigators discovered cannabis crops near the Rovinari TPP, in an area with high vegetation, but under video surveillance. Culture was planted in pots that were hidden even under outdated coal conveyors. DIICOT reported that 90 pots were found, from which 180 kilograms of green mass of hemp were collected.

“On October 5, 2023, the prosecutors of the Office for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – the Territorial Service of Kraiów issued an order for the detention of the accused, who is being investigated for the commission of a crime related to high-risk drug trafficking,” DIICOT reported on Friday evening, in a press release release

The source said the measure was taken after the defendant was caught red-handed while selling 40 grams of cannabis worth 1,500 lei.

“Subsequently, four search warrants were executed together with the Craiova Organized Crime Squad at a home in the town of Rovinari, Gorz County, during which 350 grams of cannabis, exact weight, were discovered and seized. 5 grinding machines, a mobile phone, cannabis seeds and a sum of money in lei. After expanding the relevant investigations, outdoor cultivation of hemp was discovered on a plot of land at this location surrounded by vegetation (video surveillance), establishing that it was established and maintained by the defendant,” DIICOT also conveyed.

According to the prosecutor’s office, 90 plants (in pots) of different vegetation phases were collected, as a result of which 180 kilograms of green hemp mass were collected.

“On this day, the rights and freedoms judge of the Dolj court was notified with a proposal to choose a preventive measure for the defendant for a period of 30 days,” the prosecutors clarified.

According to the local press, the culture was created near the Rovinari thermal power plant, the pots were found under decommissioned coal conveyor belts. (News.ro)
