“On October 3 of this year, Severyn, a 25-year-old man, reported to the police of the Drobeta-Turnu municipality that on the same day, around 5:20 p.m., unknown persons allegedly stole a wallet from his car. , which contained 9,000 lei, 100 dollars, 100 euros, a driver’s license, an identity card and other personal documents, a vehicle that was parked and unprotected, on Kalya Severinului Street, near the intersection with the Drobeta Turnu Bypass, Severyn Municipality. , district Mehedinci In order to carry out inspections, an operational group of the SIBD went to the scene, according to which a criminal proceeding was drawn up on the grounds of the commission of the crime of theft, an act provided for by Art. . 228 of the Criminal Code,” IPJ Mehedinţi said in a statement on Friday.

During the inspection, it was established that the suspect in committing the crime is a police officer of the Road Bureau of the Drobeta-Turnu-Severyn municipality, assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 1993,” the message reads.

The policeman found the wallet with money on the road and took it to the special police force that arrived at the scene of the accident, but did not hand it over to his colleagues.

“The police officer was asked to go to the bypass road of the municipality, where the appellant reported that he had been involved in an accident, as a result of which there are probably victims. At the scene of the incident, the policeman picked up a barrette from the roadway, which he inserted into the police car, and later, after the incident was taken over by the Highway Service, a competent body that conducted an on-site investigation, the policeman left the scene without handing over the property to his colleagues. who continued the procedural actions,” IPJ Mehedinti notes.

IPJ Mehedinti said he refrains from such behavior and that the policeman who stole the wallet has been fired.

“The Police Inspectorate of the Mehedyntsi district firmly disassociates itself from any activity that does not comply with the law. Regardless of the quality of the person who violates the provisions of the law, all legal measures will be taken. We support all criminal procedure activities and want the institution to work only with honest and professional police officers and clean our own system every time. At the same time, on October 4 of this year, the official reports of the policeman were stopped,” IPJ Mehedinti also reported.
