The Senate adopted on Tuesday in plenary a legislative proposal to amend GEO 195/2002 on traffic on public roads, where vehicles belonging to the local police are entitled to use sound and light blue signaling devices.
According to the rationale, Law 155/2010 on local police provides the legal basis for equipping local police vehicles with such devices, but GEO 195/2002 does not include local police in the list of priority users and beneficiaries, writes Agerpres.
“The project unifies and systematizes the legislative framework on this issue, supporting the activities and powers of the local police, which will benefit from a comprehensive regulatory tool by which local police officers carry out their duties in accordance with the powers granted to them by Law 155/2010”, also it is stated in the motivation of the legislative proposal initiated by a group of parliamentarians of the Democratic Party of Ukraine and the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine.
Another legislative proposal, initiated by a group of PNL deputies and passed Tuesday in the Senate plenary, also targets local police. Amending Article 7 of Law 155/2010, local police are empowered to check and apply illegal sanctions for violations of traffic rules by drivers of electric scooters.
Both legislative proposals will be debated by the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in these cases.
