Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Belgrade can achieve more in dialogue with Kosovo through negotiations with the United States than through negotiations with the EU, Serbian news agency Tanjug reported.

“I’m telling you this as honestly as possible because these people (in the U.S.) — at least some of them — are trying to look at things realistically. Because they look at things in Serbia with more understanding,” Vucic said in an interview with a talk show host on RTS (Radio Television of Serbia).

According to Vučić, there are also people in the United States who are openly against Serbia, such as Senator Bob Menendez, “a Pristina lobbyist accused in a bribery and corruption case that also involves three businessmen from New Jersey.”

“Menendez, who was accused of theft and murder (…), is the biggest pro-Albanian lobbyist since Elliott Engel (an American politician – no) and prevented us from buying Hummers at bargain prices. We have now bought and received these Hummers, and 66 of the 118 have arrived, but this is not the only one,” Vucic said.

He noted that bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States have improved in many areas in recent years, but the clashes that took place in Kosovo on Sunday are a threat to those relations.

“We didn’t need it in our relations with America, but (Kosovo Prime Minister Albin) Kurti certainly did,” Vučić concluded.
