“The prosecutor’s office went to the scene (…) carried out a forensic examination and last night the families were able to identify the young people,” local government secretary Rodrigo Reyes told Milenio TV.

The prosecutor’s office in Zacatecas, capital of the state of the same name, announced on Wednesday that six bodies had been found in the region, without confirming “if all the young people kidnapped last Sunday are among the dead.”

One of the seven kidnapped youths, 18-year-old Yobani Acevedo, was found wounded in the town of Villanueva, where the group was abducted, prosecutors said.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador expressed regret over the incident Thursday morning and said the injured young man could be interviewed. According to him, he “gives testimony to find out why these crimes happened.”
