Paxlovid, an antiviral drug for the treatment of COVID-19 developed by Pfizer, will arrive in Romania in the near future. Previously, only the antiviral drug Molnupiravir, developed by Merck, was available in Romania for the treatment of COVID-19.
Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said on Thursday at the debate “How should we prepare for the new epidemic season? Flu, Viruses, Pneumonia Alert,” hosted by DC News Media Group, that procurement of the antiviral drug Paxlovid, which is used to treat SARS-CoV2 infection, will soon end.
“We are now finalizing the purchase of an antiviral drug that can be used for the new coronavirus, Paxlovid, obviously for cases that need this drug, not for everyone. Antiviral infection needs certain restrictions,” explained Alexandru Rafila.
