Three senior students of the Tudor Vianu National College of Informatics from Bucharest, respectively Victor Teodor Nicola, Andrej Stefan Ismana and Mihai Adrian Mocanu, won a silver medal at the international robotics competition World Robot Olympiad in Denmark.

218 teams with more than 1,200 young people from over 41 countries participated in the competition, which took place on September 21-24, 2023 in Odense, Denmark. From Romania, 11 teams from Bacău, Braşov, Bucharest, Galaţi and Piotr Neamc took part.

The three students who won silver were part of the Nerdvana Triangulum team and participated in the Robomission Senior challenge, where all participants had to come up with a solution to help a robot load and unload ships, refuel and navigate at sea.

  • “In this challenge Nerdvana Triangulum was competed by 3 students of the 11th grade of the National College of Informatics Tudor Vianu, Bucharest (Victor Teodor Nicola, Andrej Stefan Ismana, Mihai Adrian Mocanu) who won a silver medal.
  • Their score (344) was identical to that of the team from Taiwan, which won the gold medal, the difference was in the time of the program: 15 seconds separated them from the gold medal,” Nerdvana Romania said in a press statement.

Three students from the 5th grade took part in the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Informatics, where they won gold and silver medals.

Three Romanian high school students were mentored by Nerdvana mentors: Marcela Priboi, Mihai Tutsu and Justin Onisoru.

Most of the teams in the country qualified at the Nerdvana Education Center. Along with Nerdvana Triangulum, Nerdvana Scorpio team participated in the same category, consisting of 2 students who found a way to express their creativity in the world of robotics: Maria Alexia Tudorache, 12th grade (Tudor Vianu National College of Informatics, Bucharest). ) and Mara Alexandra Kotianu, 10th grade (National College Gheorghe Sinkai, Bucharest).

In the Robomission Junior category, Nerdvana Hydra participated, consisting of 2 students passionate about robotics and innovation: Michea Teodor Stoica, 8th grade (International High School of Informatics, Bucharest) and Andrii Oraşanu, 9th grade (National College Gheorghe Cinkai , Bucharest).

As part of the competition, there were 3 types of tests (Robomission Elementary, Robomission Junior and Robomission Senior), each of which consisted of different tasks.
