President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday that solutions have been found to manage Ukrainian grain exports, namely the creation of an authorization system so that Romanian farmers are not harmed, Agerpres reports.
He held meetings with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Maria Gabriel, clarifying that the issues of grain transit and export of these products were discussed. to the countries through which transit is carried out.
“We have found a solution both for the transit of agricultural products from Ukraine to world markets, and for managing the export of these products to Romania. We showed openness from the Ukrainian side, the Romanian government was very well involved, the conditions were agreed, the Commission proposed additional solutions. In fact, it is a question of the permit system for these exports, the permit for which must be agreed by both parties, so we can control this phenomenon very well and not affect the farmers in Romania who have complaints about these products.” , the head of state said.
Regarding grain transit management, Yohannis advocated a “solution-oriented” approach.
“Anything else is not appropriate for this moment. We know the problem very well. And we, in Romania, have farmers’ dissatisfaction, we have specific problems that need to be solved with this transit, but in my opinion it is not important to focus on blocking the transit of grain or to make a national policy on this issue,” he concluded. President.
President Iohannis spoke about the need to continue ensuring grain transit from Ukraine.
“A significant part of this transit goes through Romania and, on the other hand, it is extremely important to manage the undeclared export of these products, for example to the Romanian markets, and together with the Ukrainian side, the Romanian government found solutions that were also approved by the Commission,” said Klaus Iohannis .
