​The Canadian government intends to provide Romania with C$3 billion (US$2.23 billion) to finance the new CANDU nuclear reactors (Units 3 and 4) at Cernavode, the ministry announced Tuesday evening via a press release. On this occasion, the Canadian side announced that it can support up to 3 billion dollars in financing for the development of nuclear projects Nuclearelectrica, the operator of the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, and, accordingly, Energonuclear, a subsidiary of SNN for the development of the project.

We remind you that Nuclearelectrica is to build two new nuclear reactors of the CANDU type in Chernavod.

Each reactor will have 700 MW

The construction of two additional CANDU-6 reactors will add 1,400 megawatts to Romania’s power grid.
