A Ukrainian naval drone damaged a small Russian corvette near occupied Crimea, a Ukrainian intelligence source said on Friday, denying Moscow’s version that the attack was repelled, Reuters reported.

Kyiv, which is trying to increase its strikes against Russia in the Black Sea region, said its strikes this week destroyed a Russian air defense system in western Crimea, seriously damaged two warships and hit two patrol ships.

A Ukrainian source told Reuters that another attack from a naval drone hit the rear starboard side of the Samum corvette near the entrance to Sevastopol Bay in Crimea on Thursday and caused “significant damage”.

The small vessel, which can carry missiles, had to be towed for repairs and tipped over on its side, the source said.

Reuters could not independently verify this account.

In a statement on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged that there had been a Ukrainian attack on the Samum corvette, but clarified that it was repelled and the naval drone was destroyed, News.ro reports.

The Security Service of Ukraine, as “Ukrainian Pravda” reports, deployed the Sea Baby storm drone, taking cover in high waves. The height of the waves at the time of the special operation was 1.5-2 meters.
