”No one understands what the Romanian representatives want to say, they themselves do not yet have a clear or objective picture of what happened”, – this was the answer of the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, regarding Bucharest’s protest in connection with the discovery on the territory of Romania fragments of drones similar to those used by the Russians in the war against Ukraine. She also accuses of “anti-Russian information attack”.

It will be recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania urgently summoned the head of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in Bucharest and informed NATO allies about the latest incident that occurred on Wednesday, when fragments of a drone similar to those used by Russian troops were found in Romania, in Tulc County

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Wednesday during a briefing in Vladivostok (southeastern Russia) asked about Bucharest’s protest in connection with the discovery of several fragments of a drone on Romanian territory near the border with Ukraine, on the banks of the Danube.

Here is the full response of the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published by the Russian Embassy in Bucharest:

  • Question: How can you comment on Bucharest’s protest in connection with the discovery on the territory of Romania near the border with Ukraine, on the banks of the Danube, of fragments of drones “similar to those used by Russian troops in the framework of, as they say, “aggression against Ukraine”?
  • Maria Zakharova: Do you remember there was a movie where a wise vizier said the phrase: “a dream about a dream is not a dream about a dream.” This, I’m sorry, is kind of absurd. This is some kind of inconsistent and contradictory juggling, I don’t even know, not with facts, but with something unclear. No one understood what it was. Everyone asks me: “What was that?” And I say: “Don’t ask me. Ask the Romanian side.”
  • “How can you explain their position?” Well, how can this be explained? They will take any such position because it is convenient. Because you can’t be responsible for anything, you can make up anything you want. Write and push these fictional stories on others. Because all this is an anti-Russian information attack.
  • The Romanian representatives themselves still do not have a clear or objective picture of what happened. No one can understand what he wants to say. We consider this approach as another manifestation of the “very likely” concept. That is, when there are no facts, but at the same time you try to convince the audience that something like this very likely should have happened.
  • Therefore, all this is necessary with the support of the Kyiv regime. All this is done by NATO members.

  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly calls for an end to the repeated attacks on the Ukrainian population and civilian infrastructure and the Russian Federation’s irresponsible escalation of the security situation, in particular on the border between Romania and Ukraine, and at the same time calls for compliance with the norms of international law, in particular the inviolability of Romania’s airspace.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again strongly condemns these illegal attacks, which violate international law and are considered war crimes.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informing and conducting consultations with NATO allies regarding the development of events on the border between Romania and Ukraine, including today’s incident.

Shortly before MAE’s announcement, the Ministry of National Defense said fragments found Wednesday between the towns of Nuferu and Victoria in Tulcea County belonged to a drone similar to those used by the Russian military.

We will remind you that on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Russian troops continued shelling the Ukrainian port infrastructure from Reni and Izmail, which are near the border between Ukraine and Romania.

The Romanian authorities have sent RO-Alert messages to 8 settlements in Tulcea county, located near the border with Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense announced in the morning that based on the information received from the ISU Tulcea regarding telephone messages through the 112 service about possible cases of drones falling in the sector between the settlements of Nufăru, Malcoci and Valea Nucarilor in Tulcea county, army groups are investigating these situations.

MApN later reported that a Romanian army helicopter detected new fragments similar to military drones in the area of some settlements more than 15 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

The wreckage was discovered around 11:30 in the morning in the area of the cities of Nuferu and Victoria, scattered over an area of several tens of meters, the Ministry of Defense reports.

The city of Nuferu is 14-15 km from the nearest points to the border with Ukraine, and Victoria is 17-18 km from the border. Nufăru is located 10 km from the center of Tulcea.

The first two cases of finding the remains of drones on the territory of Romania were near the city of Plauru, located almost on the border, but Nuferu and Victoria are much further from the border.

In none of the three cases did Romania’s radars detect anything.
