The Sevastopol shipyard on the Crimean peninsula caught fire early Wednesday, damaging two ships after Ukraine fired 10 missiles and three speedboats at the port, Russia’s Defense Ministry said, according to Reuters.

Seven missiles were shot down by Russian air defense systems, and all three boats were destroyed by a patrol ship, the ministry said in a statement posted on Telegram.

“As a result of being hit by enemy cruise missiles, two ships under repair were damaged,” the agency reported.

Mykhailo Razvozhaev, the Moscow-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Crimea’s largest city and a major Black Sea port, said at least 24 people were injured.

“All emergency services are working at the scene, there is no threat to the civilian population in the city,” said Razvozhaev.

In 2014, the strategic shipyard on the “annexed” peninsula builds and repairs ships and submarines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Razvozhaev published a photo of the flames, which seemed to have engulfed the infrastructure of the port. Russian Telegram channels published a video and several photos of a powerful flame at a marine facility.
