A surreal film in Italy. A Romanian driver was caught on video driving a Jeep Renegade at speed in reverse in the opposite direction on the first lane of the ring road in the city of Naples. The images went viral, and MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli criticized the authorities for not taking any action in the case, according to the peninsula’s media.

A video of an SUV speeding in the opposite direction on the Naples ring road was captured on Sunday morning by a scooter passenger who couldn’t believe what the road user was doing. The images went viral by noon.

The driver slows down a bit when, to the surprise of the drivers, several cars pull out onto the road from the side of the ring road.

Parliamentarian Francesco Emilio Borrelli also reported on the situation, clarifying that the driver and passengers of the car were identified, they were Romanians, criticizing the authorities’ lack of reaction.

“What if he caused an accident, what if he killed someone, what if he caused a carnage? This permissiveness leads us to disaster, the streets are full of delinquents, criminals, crazy and irresponsible people who always get away with something. This time there were no arrests and even confiscation of the vehicle. Is this a joke?” – wrote the People’s Deputy on his Facebook page.

The driver gave a surprising explanation: he had almost run out of fuel and had reversed, in the opposite direction to reach the nearest petrol station, 4km away, the disgruntled politician said, saying the driver had gone unpunished.

The road company was warned, intervened urgently and after a few hundred meters the car was blocked, reports Il Riformista.

Fortunately, after the terrible maneuver there was no accident, the police are continuing the investigation.
