  • “Regarding the busyness of the issue, we discussed a lot with specialists, we have an educational research unit in the Ministry, the former Institute of Educational Sciences, which will be restored with the new law. They said this: the school curriculum itself is not loaded, it depends on how the school implements it, and it also depends on one thing: how loaded the textbook, made according to the curriculum, is. A textbook can be large and follow the curriculum, or it can be very dense and still follow the curriculum. It is about the art and the vocation of the teaching staff to adapt to the group of students they have,” the Minister of Education said on TVR Info on Monday evening.

The minister showed that an analysis of the existing program is needed for the gymnasium, elementary and junior cycles of education, and for the high school, for which the school program has not been reviewed for a long time, there will be new programs and frameworks. plans and textbooks from the 2025-2026 academic year.

From the next academic year, it will be decided whether to keep the division into modules or not

The Minister of Education Ligia Deka states that in the next period she will receive an analysis on the feasibility of dividing the academic year into modules, announcing that from the 2024-2025 academic year it will be decided whether this system will be preserved.

  • “Regarding the modules, I promised, when I took office, an analysis after the first year of implementation. The first year of implementation was the school year that just ended, we have requested an analysis, it will be completed in the coming months. At the time we had to draw up the school calendar for this academic year, only two modules had been completed under this module system, so it was not possible to grade for the whole year. After we do the evaluation, before we have the structure of the academic year for the academic year 2024-2025, we will see what went well and what did not, and we will see if we continue this system of modules,” Ligia Deka told TVR Info on Monday evening.

She revealed that educators say that “in theory it’s a good idea to alternate periods of activity and short breaks” as it should lead to a balance in terms of learning, but “we’ll have to see how it plays out in practice”.

The minister also said that he also received feedback from some people who do not support the feasibility of dividing the academic year into modules.
