Medical staff from the Departments and Anesthesia and Intensive Care Units (ATI) of the Tirgu Mures County Emergency Clinical Hospital (SCJU) are protesting on Monday against the intention of the hospital management to reduce the working conditions bonus from 85% to 55%, showing that in this way workers’ incomes will be lower than the level of those in hospitals without a complex medical history.

“We express our disagreement with such an action, because the employees of our departments serve an extended territorial radius, the hospital functions as a regional hospital, accepting cases of a high degree of complexity not only from the territories included in the order of the Ministry of Health. (SCJ Mureş, lUBCVT Târgu Mureş and all mureş county municipal and city hospitals, Alba, Harghita, SCJU Sibiu district hospitals and all units assigned to them), but from all over the country, diverse case history, from complex medical pathology, surgical pathology with high complications, trauma and polytrauma, pathology that can be treated only in a university clinic with traditions like our clinic, the ATI clinic together with all subordinate departments and structures (department of the clinic of anesthesiology and intensive care as part of the Emergency Medical Hospital of Tirgu Mures County refers to category I),” says the letter of protest signed by the coordinators of the ATI departments, addressed to the management of the district hospital in Tirgu Mures, reports Agerpres.

According to them, the activities of the staff of the clinical department of ATI are both diagnostic, treatment, patient care and didactic, but despite this reality, much higher increases are practiced in hospitals from which severe cases are accepted.

“Furthermore, we would like to highlight the unfairness and unfairness towards our own staff, forced to accept patients from hospitals in which structures are granted promotions with working conditions above those provided by SCJU (SCJ Mureş, Reghin Municipal Hospital, Sighişoara Municipal Hospital) , our unit is the only one in the district that provides minimum allowances to staff working in intensive care, in other units – 85% of the allowance for these categories of staff,” the signatories emphasize.

The letter of protest also shows that the inability to refuse a patient by the UPU/SMURD unit and medical aviation involves the admission of particularly difficult patients to the ATI departments, regardless of the possibility or possibility of admission, these compartments are often overcrowded with patients.

“The staff of our departments were used to the point of exhaustion during the COVID-19 pandemic, both in the internal and external structures of the hospital (the COVID-19 unit located in the premises of UMFST), structures that served not only the county of Mureş, but also the whole country , and still exposed to various infectious risks (many septic critical patients) and physical and mental fatigue. (…) We ask to determine the decision, accordingly, to return the address to the chief authorized officer of loans, in this case, with a request to increase the percentage allocated to the allowances approved for SCJU Târgu Mureş, in order to maintain the payment of the current salary with the current allowance to be paid” , – testify the signatories of the letter of protest.

In addition, the coordinators of the ATI units in the hospital in Tirgu Mures asked the management to take measures together with the Ministry of Health in such a way that the increase in intensive care staff is at the same level in all hospitals under the ministry, and not differentiated, because it will information that other hospitals under the Ministry of Health provide higher allowances than expected in Tirgu Mures.

If the demands of the ATI employees are not met, they threaten to resort to “all forms of assault and protest permitted by applicable law.”

On Monday, the management of the hospital in Tirgu Mures said it was going to present its point of view.
