Evgeny Dykiy, a former company commander of the Ukrainian Aidar battalion, says that the famous “dragon’s teeth” that the Russian military uses for defense are useless, and other elements of defense have created problems for the Kyiv troops, Insider reports.

“Let’s start with funny things, among them the so-called “dragon’s teeth”. I think everyone has already seen the photo or video [cu aceștia]”, he stated in a major interview with the magazine “New Voice of Ukraine”, recalling, however, that these were “white pyramidal blocks which, in the minds of the Russians, were supposed to somehow stop our tanks”.

“To be honest, it’s a mystery to me why these pyramids were built. The only rational explanation is that someone stole from the budget. Because they are absolutely useless when it comes to stopping tanks,” Dyky added.

“If you remember, maybe a few years ago it was fashionable to put so-called energy pyramids on the table, which were supposed to protect against negative energies. Using these concrete pyramids is exactly the same,” the former Ukrainian commander added.

At the same time, he noted that the offensive against the Russian occupiers, launched in June, encountered problems due to other elements of the defensive lines, noting that the first one in particular was “very strong.”

“First of all, this is generally the largest minefield, perhaps even in the history of Europe,” he said, explaining that the Ukrainian military hit “a dotted line of fortified redoubts” behind it.

What do the defensive lines built by the Russian army look like

As for the Russians’ second line of defense, Dyky says it consists of trenches and concrete bunkers protected by “dozens of individual minefields with passages between them” to allow Russian troops to move quickly from one point of defense to another.

The Ukrainian officer noted that the Kyivans will be able to use these passages against the Russian defenders when they get here.

At the same time, he noted that the third line of the Russians is not such a big obstacle, as it is mainly designed to ensure the replenishment of the first two.

“The Russians will not be able to protect him,” he claims.

His comments came at a time when Ukrainian troops managed to break through the first line of Russian defense in Robotyn, paving the way for a wider breakthrough in the western Zaporizhzhya region.

This is the direction in which Ukrainian troops are trying to advance towards the city of Melitopol near the coast of the Sea of Azov in order to block the Russian occupation forces and their corridor to Crimea.

“There are some reasons for cautious optimism,” says Dykiy after the latest offensive by the Kyiv troops.
