NATO allies expressed “strong solidarity” with Romania on Wednesday after the country notified them that what appeared to be debris from a Russian drone had fallen on Romanian territory, the alliance said, according to Reuters.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation and maintain close contact with our ally Romania,” NATO said in a statement.

Defense Minister Angel Tilvar confirmed on Wednesday that pieces of the Russian drone used in the attack from Sunday night to Monday fell on the territory of our country, after Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said a day ago that there was “no drone and no other parts of any device,” which arrived in Romania after Monday’s Russian attack on Ukrainian ports on the Danube.

The remains were found within the radius of the Tulcea Cheatalkioi commune.

If it is confirmed that the fragments found on the territory of Romania come from a Russian drone, “this situation will be absolutely unacceptable and a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Romania,” President Klaus Iohannis said at the opening of the summit.
