From 11:00 a.m., a press conference will be held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where a preliminary report on the intervention of Crevedia will be presented.

HotNews.ro will transmit LIVETEXT statements of the authorities.

As a result of the explosions that occurred a week ago in Krevedia, three people were killed, 56 were injured, 39 were firefighters.

The devastating explosions in Krevedia revealed a whole series of violations – the gas station, which belonged to the PSD mayor’s son Caracal, was closed only for documentation purposes.

The liquefied gas station in Krevedia was fined several times by the Inspectorate of Emergency Situations and closed since September 2020, but nevertheless continued to operate, and the investigation by the prosecutor’s office also aims to establish the role of the institutions that should have carried out inspections and ensured that the LPG storage does not continue to work.

The General Prosecutor’s Office is working on criminal proceedings, the purpose of which is to establish the causes of the fire, as well as the role of institutions in this case, given that the gas station has been closed on record since September 30, 2020.

Another criminal proceeding has been opened by the Military Prosecutor’s Office and concerns the actions of firefighters at a liquefied gas warehouse, where two explosions and subsequent fires occurred. In the context of the controversy over the intervention in the two fires on Saturday, which led to a large number of casualties among firefighters, Raed Arafat responded several times, saying that all the firefighters who intervened did everything possible to protect local residents and that his intervention was done correctly.

In addition, the National Anti-Corruption Directorate announced on Monday that it had opened two criminal cases against public officials for alleged abuse of office and obtaining an undue advantage in connection with the authorization of a gas station in the city of Krevedia.
