The PSD senator promises that “there will be no more concessions for people who drive drunk, under the influence of drugs or without a license, as well as for those who use or sell drugs.”

Measures proposed by Robert Kazanchuk:

  • “Unlike the Anastasia Law, which sends to prison those who kill innocent people on the roads, get behind the wheel in a drunken state, under the influence of drugs or without a license, I proposed today at the SDP leadership forum specific actions, given that extreme actions require appropriate laws. A wider package of measures, 12 identified in the first phase, targets those who sell or use drugs.
  • The strengthening of fines, as well as the criminalization of actions that contribute to the circulation and consumption of drugs, will be considered.
  • Legislative changes will be initiated that will increase the penalties for drivers who get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs, such as a 10-year disqualification. We will analyze European law and CCR practice to identify the legal framework that allows even confiscation of a vehicle driven by a person under the influence of drugs or psychoactive substances.
  • Among the specific measures discussed are equipping the police with mobile scanners to check cars or equipping the Romanian post office with the necessary equipment to scan all parcels entering Romania for a drug-free visa, as well as clear procedures for all couriers. international companies.
  • One of the proposals that was recognized as useful was the opportunity offered to parents to undergo 2-3 annual tests to detect possible drug use by minors, and in case of positive results, to conduct 10 psychological consultations. Both testing and counseling will be conducted in complete confidentiality. Proposals were also made to conduct testing with the support of schools and with the consent of parents.
  • I believe that early detection and treatment of drug use can save from addiction.”

He notes that he received a mandate from PSD President Mr. Marcel Ciolaka to continue “a dialogue with all those who can contribute to the formation of a regulatory package that will lead to a significant reduction in the trade and consumption of drugs and psychoactive substances.”

  • “I want as many people as possible to learn about the current law as soon as possible, so that thrill seekers know that using a car as a weapon is a crime and is punishable by life imprisonment. There is no escape – prison with execution,” says Kazanchuk.

Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku on Saturday floated the idea of giving parents the opportunity to test their minor children for drug use through family doctors, with the cost of the tests borne by the state.

The idea was made public by Interior Minister Katalin Predoju, who said that the possibility of drug testing students by medical staff in schools if “they clearly demonstrate behavior characteristic of drug use” is being analyzed. The minister clarified that such testing will be carried out only with the consent of the parents.

The prefect of the capital, Rares Hopincha, went further and talked about the fact that at the beginning of the school year, students must submit their blood for analysis to determine whether they have used drugs. He claims that he would ask the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NANA) to conduct a survey of parents and students to find out what they think about the introduction of such a measure. Another question in the questionnaire will be about drug testing in schools.
