Romania’s trade with Ukraine flourished after the start of the war with Russia. The figures also show that we have a surplus of €166.3 million in the first 6 months of this year. That is, according to the data sent by the National Institute of Statistics at the request of HotNews.ro, we export more than we import, after having a trade deficit of 312.8 million euros for the same period in 2022.

What products do Ukrainians give us?

We import products worth 868.8 million euros from Ukraine. This is evidenced by the data for 6 months, which is almost 13% more than in the same period last year.

Thus, from there we get, among other things:

  • Maize – 140.6 million euros
  • Cane sugar – 59.4 million euros
  • Wheat and meslin – 48.6 million euros
  • Sunflower seeds – 41 million euros
  • Soybeans – 34.1 million euros
  • Hot-rolled bars – 32.9 million euros
  • Details of shoes – 27.7 million euros
  • Firewood – 24 million euros
  • Semi-finished products from cast iron or non-alloyed steels – 23.7 million euros
  • Wires, cables – 23.2 million euros
  • Iron ores – 19.2 million euros
  • Bakery products, cakes, cookies – 15.2 million euros

What goods do Romanian companies send to Ukraine?

In the first 6 months of this year, Romania exported 1.03 billion euros worth of products to Ukraine, which is 124% more than in the same period of 2022. They have practically doubled.

  • Petroleum oils – 176.3 million euros
  • Well gas – 49.6 million euros
  • Mineral fertilizers – 41 million euros
  • Cars and other means of transport intended mainly for the transportation of people – 35.1 million euros
  • Flat rolled products from cast iron or non-alloy steel – 14.9 million euros
  • Medicines – 13 million euros
  • Mineral or chemical fertilizers containing two or three fertilizer elements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium – 9.4 million euros
  • Toilet paper, napkins – 8 million euros
  • Drones – 4.8 million euros
