
Six counties in the south and southeast of the country and the city of Bucharest will receive a code orange warning due to heat and extreme temperature discomfort on Wednesday.
According to the National Meteorological Administration, the areas with the warning, namely Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Calarasi, Ialomica, Braila, Ilfov and the municipality of Bucharest, will register a maximum temperature of 37-39 degrees Celsius. Thermal discomfort will be increased, and the temperature and humidity index (ITU) will be above the critical threshold of 80 units.
The heat wave and high temperature discomfort will persist during Wednesday in 16 other districts (Arjes, Arad, Buzeu, Karash-Severin, Constanta, Dambovitsa, Dolj, Gorz, Galati, Mehedinci, Prahova, Tulcea, Timis, Vilca, Vranca and Vaslui). areas where meteorologists announced a yellow code warning. In the southwest, south and southeast, a heat wave will persist, thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature and humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum air temperature will range from 33 to 37 degrees Celsius, the minimum – from 17 to 23 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists warn that in the northern half of the territory and in the rest of the prohibited territories there will be manifestations of atmospheric instability. On the other hand, towards the end of the week, the heat will intensify again.
For the Capital on Wednesday, meteorologists announced heat and discomfort throughout the day, and in the evening a short-term increase in wind, squalls, electrical discharges and showers. The maximum temperature will be 37-39 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature will be 20-23 degrees Celsius, and the temperature and humidity index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
The sky will be changeable, with a temporary increase in cloudiness, especially in the evening and on Wednesday night, when the probability of short-term strengthening of the wind, thunderstorms, electrical discharges and showers will increase, the ANM notes.
