Health Minister Alexandru Rafila says that just over a quarter of Romania’s population pays for health insurance, showing that our country’s per capita health care costs are eight times lower than in other countries.

“You should know that we pay insurance, unfortunately only five million out of 19 million people in Romania pay health insurance. Effective spending per capita for the healthcare system in Romania, compared to countries in… I mean the amount of money, not to talk about the interest, because the interest sometimes doesn’t matter, three to eight times more small in Romania,” Alexandru Rafila said on TVR Info on Tuesday evening.

Speaking about the health care system, the minister said that he would prefer “a society of dialogue and construction than a society of denial, presentation of negativity and insults.” (News.ro)
