Oppenheimer took third place at the North American box office with $11 million in its fifth weekend, bringing its ticket sales to $286 million.
The R-rated historical drama surpassed $700 million at the global box office last weekend, surpassing Interstellar 2014 ($714 million) and became the fourth highest-grossing film directed by Christopher Nolan.
Thus, the film about the “father” of the atomic bomb became the fourth biggest release of the year after Super Mario Brothers movies ($1.35 billion), Chin ($1.27 billion) and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 ($845 million).
