Rublev, Auger-Aliassime and Norrie eliminated in first round of ATP in Cincinnati

The 7th seed in Cincinnati, Russian Andrii Rublev, was defeated after a marathon match (three hours and 17 minutes) by Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (60 ATP), the score 7-6(10), 5-7, 7-6(3).

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (12th seed), a student of Toni Nadal, lost in one hour and 48 minutes to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (32 ATP), 6-4, 6-4.

The British Cameron Norrie (13) lost after two hours to the impressive Frenchman Gael Monfils (211 ATP), the score 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Carlos Alcaraz lost to Jordan Thompson at the Cincinnati Masters

Carlos Alcaraz had a very difficult match with Jordan Thompson (55 ATP), the Australian even managed to win a set against the world leader.

The Iberian won after two hours and 47 minutes of play with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

In the next round, Carlos will meet the winner of the match between Frenchman Hugo Humbert (33 ATP) and American Tommy Paul (14th seed / defeated Alcaraz in the quarters in Toronto).

The Western & Southern Open (Cincinnati) is a tournament of the Masters 1000 series. The tournament will be held from August 14 to 20, 2023 with a total prize pool of $6,600,000. The champion of the title is Borna Corych.
