Kazim Kamal Khan confessed to killing 50-year-old Diana Christo Khan on Saturday, police said on Tuesday.

“We received a call from the gravedigger about a man who came to the cemetery and tried to bury the body without a shroud or burial ritual,” the officer who arrested Muhammad Nadeem told AFP.

“When we arrived at the scene, we saw that the body was completely exposed and we thought it was suspicious.”

A spokesman for the US State Department confirmed the death of one of its citizens in Lahore.

“We are in contact with the family and are providing all necessary consular assistance,” he said.

Kazim Kamal Khan was deported from the United States after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and found himself far from his wife and daughter, who remained on American soil, police said.

He reportedly called his wife in Pakistan recently saying he was seriously ill.

According to the report, Diana Christo Hahn’s body showed a visible wound on her head and a bruise on her neck.

An autopsy must be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
