The Northern Railway Station in Bucharest is a world in miniature, where all kinds of people come and go. Suitcases, blinds or trollers, buffets with wine, packages from mom, handkerchiefs blowing in the wind, parting and farewell, tears and hugs, nerves and haste.

Behind locked doors in Coloane is the Royal Salon, the waiting room for the kings of Romania and their illustrious guests, today pots and pans for all. Gone are the red English leather chairs, the huge chandelier, statues, and paintings. Everything valuable has evaporated over time.

When you walk into the North Station, a very very small sign near the columns shows us that there used to be a railway line, you just need to know what to look for, the station master showed me that.

Line No. 1 started right in the central hall of the station. It was the line of the crowned persons, and the train stopped right in front of the Royal Salon.
