CFR SA says that during periods when the air temperature already exceeds 35-37 degrees, rail infrastructure maintenance staff “constantly carry out additional checks on the network, directly inspecting the track, measuring and continuously recording the temperature change at rail level, and during periods when the temperature on the track exceeds 50 degrees at certain intervals between stations, train speeds are reduced by an average of 20-30. km/h compared to the normal speed, so that rail traffic is carried out in conditions of complete safety.”

Travelers should inquire about departure and arrival times before traveling by train

CFR SA recommends that people check before traveling for train arrival and departure times at CFR stations, at the ticket office of the transport operator from whom they have purchased or wish to purchase a ticket.

“We ask travelers during this period to also look at the websites or pages of railway carriers in social networks to get up-to-date information about the conditions and measures introduced in the schedule of trains registered in circulation. We apologize to passengers in situations where the trains they travel on arrive late at their destination, but these speed limit measures on certain train intervals are necessary to maintain optimal and safe conditions on the rail network,” CFR SA said in a statement.
