Russia intends to cause a global food crisis by not renewing the agreement on grain exports from Ukraine via the Black Sea, Romanian Foreign Minister Luminica Odobescu told the Council of Foreign Affairs (CAE) in Brussels on Thursday.
“I want to emphasize the importance of solidarity bands, as well as the role of Romania in simplifying the transportation of grain from Ukraine. And Romania will continue to do everything possible to support Ukraine. What Russia is doing today, namely the bombing of ports, the bombing of Odessa, the destruction of infrastructure and actually threatening ships in the Black Sea, is unacceptable. From our point of view, Russia intends to cause a global food crisis. This aspect will be discussed today in the Council of Foreign Affairs,” said the head of Romanian diplomacy, reports Agerpres.
Odobescu specified that he would support the “consolidation” of sanctions against Russia. “I will support the strengthening of sanctions against Russia and Iran, Iran’s support for Russia in the war against Ukraine,” she said.
According to the minister, relations between the European Union and Turkey will also be on the agenda of the CAE. In this context, Luminica Obobescu emphasized the need for a “balanced” and “pragmatic” approach.
