But despite the fact that it has effectively become a war zone, Russian state television continues to encourage people to go there during the summer holidays.

BBC Correspondent Francis Scarr posted a clip with the Russian presenter on Twitter: “Crimea welcomes every guest with open arms!”.

One lane of the bridge in Crimea was partially opened to traffic late Monday evening, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Kusnullin said on his Telegram channel almost a day after it was damaged by two explosions.

However, early Tuesday morning, ferries were suspended due to bad weather, Russian news agencies reported with reference to the Moscow-backed Crimean Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On Monday morning, two explosions damaged the Kerch bridge that connects Crimea to the Russian mainland, killing two people and closing the main access road for Russian road transport to the occupied peninsula.

Moscow called it a “terrorist” strike by Ukrainian naval drones, although Kyiv did not claim responsibility for the attack.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Monday afternoon that the Kerch bridge was “destroyed” by naval drones, becoming the first senior official in Kyiv to confirm that Ukraine was behind the explosions that damaged the bridge connecting Crimea to mainland Russia .
