
At the beginning of the year, Kaufland Romania launched an advertising campaign called “The first company in Romania certified Zero Waste”. During the company’s press conference, several environmental activists protested, displaying messages such as “Greenwashing record = Kaufland”.
Several people later expressed their displeasure with the company’s ad campaign, saying the message was partially false. That the slogan was specifically formulated to indirectly imply to Kaufland that it does not produce any waste, i.e. zero waste. That this is not true is also acknowledged by the company, which denies the accusations of greenwashing, saying about the marketing campaign that “it does not claim that we have the status of a zero-waste company in all business streams”.
