The owner of three homes for the elderly in Eforie, inspected by the authorities and found to be operating without a permit, tried to set himself on fire in front of Constanta City Hall on Thursday.

Constance County Police announced that Section 3 officers were called Thursday morning to reports of a man threatening to set himself on fire in front of Constance City Hall.

“The police officers who went to the scene of the incident established that the mentioned cases are confirmed, as the identity of a 54-year-old man has been established. The person concerned was punished for the violation under Law No. 61/1991 with a fine of 1,000 lei,” Constanta police said, as quoted by News.ro.

According to some sources, the man owns three nursing homes in Efor Nord, which were operating without a permit. The case is being investigated by Constanța police, which conducted several searches on Wednesday, opening a criminal case for abuse of office, fraud, false declarations, illegal occupation and tax evasion, Constanța police said on Wednesday.
