After inspections that began this week, Gorge County authorities discovered a home that housed 27 elderly people and was operating without legal form. According to News.ro, seven elderly people were taken home by their families, while others were taken to hospital or transferred to another center.

“Today we were informed that a center for the elderly was discovered in Tirgu Jiu municipality, which was operating without filling out legal forms and where there were 27 beneficiaries, of which 11 were immobilized or difficult to transport. It was decided to suspend the activity of this center, and to resettle all the people in the center. As was natural and moral, all the relatives of the people in the center were contacted to express their consent to resettlement or to take them under control,” ISU Gorj reported on Wednesday evening.

At the first stage, the medical personnel who went to the scene of the incident underwent a medical examination of all elderly people, determining, depending on the severity of the disease, the places of resettlement.

The crews of the institution involved 7 sanitary vehicles of the SMURD, a special vehicle for the transportation of multiple victims and 4 interventional command vehicles for the transportation of elderly people, 30 non-commissioned officers and 10 officers took part in the movement.

Families of elderly people decided to take home. Among others, seven were relocated to the Preaiba Center for the Elderly in Tirgu Yoi Municipality, and 13 were transported to hospitals. Four were taken to Tirgu Jiu Hospital, seven hospitalized in Novaci Hospital and one each in Rovinari and Tirgu Karbunest Hospitals.

Regarding the people taken to the Preajba Hospital or Center for the Elderly, ISU Gorj contacted the relatives and they either showed up and accompanied the elderly or were informed of the place where the elderly were transported.
