How to pretend that you are worried, looking for a solution and not guilty? That was the latest speech by Labor Minister Mario Budaya, who avoided answering key questions and even called on civil society to support him, after he refused to cooperate with the Legal Resource Center, a civil society organization that had been reporting problems at the people’s centers since last year of the elderly in Voluntar, which is currently being investigated by DIICOT.
“We decided to make together and make available to civil society an open, transparent procedure for all civil society who want to participate in monitoring the quality of services offered in the field of social assistance, as well as in monitoring people who are offered social services” He said Minister of Labor Marius Budai.
“Also, we have closed the discussion for about two years since we worked on an amendment to the social assistance law, law 292, and it ended by sending the law to interdepartmental approval, so that at the beginning of the parliamentary session, this law, a law that also provides measures, which will prevent such things. We will also make changes to law 197, but to law 448 on the protection of people with disabilities,” the minister added.
We decided to form two working groups on these laws together with experts from civil society.”
When asked how he will select public organizations that are allowed to participate in monitoring: “We will have a procedure that I will do together with public organizations, which will be open to everyone who wants to participate in monitoring.”
When asked why he did not have the same openness with CRJ, with which the Ministry of Labor violated the protocol of cooperation when it reported the violation, Budai this time avoided a coherent explanation:
“Protocol was not broken when they announced, let’s be clear. We knew about the problems and last year we also carried out controls there. I have invited CRJ in today for discussions and I will call this woman personally. Whether it was wrong in the past or not, we will see. But I want it to be another moment, a T0 moment for open collaboration. Let’s do it, let’s change the situation and prevent these unfortunate events that happened.”
Georgiana Pascu, a representative of the Legal Resource Center organization, told in an interview with HotNews.ro how the state authorities reacted to the situation in which the people who suffered are there.
