​The Court of Appeal of Timisoara has decided that CSU Craiova has the right to own the sports record of the historical team Universitatea Craiova and all its derivatives.

The University of Craiova, Mihai Rotaru Club, has a science record

According to the GSP, the team protected by Mihai Rotaru has the right to use exclusively for commercial and sporting purposes the entire record of the blue and white club (from 1948 to 1991).

Short decision of the Court of Appeal of Timisoara

“Dismisses the appeal filed by the appellant-participant attached to CLUB SPORTIV U CRAIOVA SA. To accept the appeal filed by the appellant-plaintiff CLUB SPORTIV UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA against the civil decision No. 149/23.05.2017 issued by the Court of Debts in case no. 11665/63/2014**.

Partially modifies the contested decision in the sense that it partially admits the claim brought by the plaintiff CLUB SPORTIV UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA against the defendant FOTBAL CLUB U CRAIOVA SA through the judicial liquidator AGENțIA DE INSOLVENTĂ SPRL, and it remains unchanged that the plaintiff is entitled to the right of ownership of the sports records of the historical football team of Universitatea Craiova and all its derivatives, as well as the right to use exclusively for commercial and sporting purposes the record of the historical football team of Universitatea Craiova and all its derivatives.

Leave the rest of the appealed verdict unchanged. With an appeal, within 30 days, from the notice that will be submitted to the Court of Appeal of Timisoara. It was decided on 10.07.2023 by providing the decision for the information of the parties by the court registry.”
